Security Committee
The CFD Security Committee has several, diverse functions.
First, the Committee is responsible for creating and distributing identification
badges for volunteers and vendors to control access to various areas of Frontier
Park during the show. In addition, access permits for vehicles are also created
and distributed. Committee volunteers work at vehicle gates to enforce entry rules
and man many interior pedestrian gates to ensure that only authorized individuals
are in production areas for the rodeo and night shows.
The Committee is responsible for the traffic plan in and around Frontier Park as
well as controlling all vehicle parking. It works closely with the Cheyenne Police
Department and directs traffic at all entrance points to the Park. In addition,
the remote parking lot and shuttle bus operation is organized and coordinated by
the Security Committee.
Another function is to hire and direct the private security company and its personnel
who are responsible for collecting parking and camping fees and performing overnight
patrol of the facilities.
During the night shows, the Committee is responsible for maintaining control over
the standing room only area.
All traffic and information signage, as well as sponsor advertising is the responsibility
of the Committee. Members work year round refurbishing old signs and making new
ones for the next show.
To start off the month of July, the Committee puts on the annual
Independence Day fireworks display. It contracts with the vendor and designs and
produces the entire evening's entertainment.
The Committee is comprised of approximately 80 volunteers who enjoy working year-round
to make the show the Daddy of 'em All.
