Steps Toward Story

Giving old stories new life is what museums do. These stories take many forms in your Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum. One such example is the set of tales told by the art shows, annual displays of Paul Gregg, the Binson Collection, and the Museum Purchase Program.

Art exhibitions such as these bring together flashes of worlds gone by, some that might be, and others that never were. Drawing the visitor into such worlds in new and exciting settings can be challenging for museums. One of the newest projects completed by the Exhibits and Facilities Departments of the Museum is a fresh set of story stepping stones, known as pedestals. While the old set of several dozen pedestals have served long and proud, they had simply run their course.

Both the Western Spirit Art Show and Sale and the Western Art Show and Sale were freshened in their presentation this year by the new set of 36 boxes. Each created in a Russian Nesting Doll design, each stack of three sizes stores nicely and neatly giving the galleries a new look and our storage spaces a welcomed breather.
