The 43rd Annual Cheyenne Frontier Days™ Western Art Show & Sale will take place from Thursday, July 20 to August 13, 2023. The Western Art Show features the nation’s top Western artists who bring to life the celebration, the heritage, and the outlook of the American West.
The Opening Reception begins at 3:30 p.m. on July 20 with the ticket holder preview. At 4:30 p.m., guests will hop on a bus for hors d’oeuvres on the lawn of the Governor’s Residence. The exhibit and Jump-the-Gun will open at 6:00 pm at the Museum. With Jump-the-Gun, patrons can immediately purchase artwork at a premium price. To round out the night, we will have our sales drawing at 7 p.m. and a western dinner.
If you miss the Opening Reception, you will still have a chance to view and/or purchase art when the Western Art show is open for public viewing on Friday, July 21, and will remain open until August 13.

This year, we are thrilled to be back in person to bring you an art show experience that is as big and grand as the 125th Cheyenne Frontier Days™!

Kick off the 125th Cheyenne Frontier Days™ Celebration with the Opening Reception for the 41st Annual Cheyenne Frontier Days Western Art Show and Sale presented by Visit Cheyenne, Halladay Motors, and Flexx Productions on Thursday, July 22.
The CFD Western Art Show is one of the most prestigious and well recognized shows in the Rocky Mountain Region and in the western art community. This show features artists from across the nation who depicted images of the American West. This year’s show features prominent figures in western art such as Brandon Bailey, Teal Blake, Colt Idol, Jennifer Johnson, Joel Johnson, Gail Sundell Jones, Chris Navarro, Dustin Payne, Renee Piskorski, D. Michael Thomas, Carrie Wild, and more. The Western Art Show Committee also welcomes two new artists to the show, Jeremey Bradshaw, and Andy Mast.
Since 1981, the Western Art Show Committee has raised over $3 million in support of the Museum’s Art Education, Exhibits, Collections, and Operating funds whose mission is to cultivate a rich, educational space for the diverse, international community served by, and rooted in, the American western legacy of Cheyenne Frontier Days.

The Cheyenne Frontier Days™ Old West Museum is pleased to announce the 40th Annual Western Spirit Juried Art Show and Sale. The Member-Only Opening Reception will be on March 6 at 5 p.m.(MST), and the Virtual Western Spirit Award Show will be livestreamed on Facebook at 7 p.m.(MST). The show will be open to the public March 7 through April 18, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily for the price of regular Museum admission.

The CFD Old West Museum and the Western Art Show Committee are pleased to announce that Jump the Gun for ticket holders only begins July 9 on https://cfdartshow.com/.
All artwork purchases are made on a first come, first serve basis. All available artwork on the website will be priced at Jump the Gun (JTG) (25%) + $160, the cost of a ticket. Ticket holders will receive a coupon code to remove the added ticket price to each piece of art. JTG buyers receive an additional tax-deduction on top of the standard 35% rate during regular and public buy. From July 9 until July 16 at 7 p.m. MDT, buyers may jump the gun either online or call during the Museum at (307) 778-7289.
Kickoff for the 40th anniversary of the Western Art Show will be on Thursday, July 16 with the Virtual Opening Reception on Facebook Live with appearances from our artists, and some special guests. While the opening is free to view on Facebook, audience members who wish to purchase art during the event must purchase a ticket to the event.

As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the Museum relies heavily on donations, admission to the Museum, events admission, and art sales. Ticket sales alone for the Western Art Show & Sale normally raise enough funds for the Museum to pay for nearly a month of operating expenses.
Since 1981, the Committee has raised over $3 million in support of the CFD Old West Museum’s day-to-day operations through the Western Art Show. Today, this high-caliber art show has become the Museum’s largest fundraiser, supporting nearly a quarter of our operating expenses.

While it is free to view the Virtual Opening Reception on Facebook Live, audience members who wish to purchase artwork during the Virtual Opening Reception will need to purchase a ticket to the event. Ticket holders may Jump the Gun starting on July 9 online only at www.cfdartshow.com. Ticket holders may begin purchasing art at the regular price starting at 7 p.m. on July 16. During the Virtual Opening Reception, the Museum will have a phone bank for those who need assistance.

The 39th Annual Western Spirit Art Show & Sale opens on March 7, 2020. This show features over 400 original pieces of Western art from artists all over the country.
The Art Show kicks off with an opening reception the evening of March 7. Museum members will be admitted at 5:00 pm for a member-only preview and Buy-it-Now, where all pieces, including the popular miniatures, can be purchased at a 25% premium before the sale opens to the ticketed public at 6:00 pm. 35% of each piece of artwork sold and opening night reception ticket directly benefit the Museum.
Opening night festivities feature a Silent Auction Quick Draw, where four artists create an original piece of art from scratch that and can be bid on during the duration of the Quick Draw. Other components include live entertainment, and complimentary full bar, and heavy hors d’oeuvres.
New to Western Spirit is the Western Art for Non-Profit Partners Program. This initiative provides buyers a new way to purchase art, support the Museum, and give to other local non-profits. Buyers may select art from wish-lists provided at registration to buy and donate to our partner organizations. These wish-lists have been carefully curated by our partner organizations to fit their missions.

The Museum’s Young Professional group, The Mavericks, selected a piece from the Western Spirit Art Show and Sale, “Wicked” by Robin Cook, to be featured and available for sale in the CFD Western Art Show as the third ever Mavericks’ Choice piece.

This Saturday, March 7, 2020 the 39th Annual Western Spirit Art Show & Sale opens. This show features over 200 original pieces of Western art from artists all over the country.
The Art Show kicks off with an opening reception the evening of March 2. Museum members will be admitted at 5 p.m. for a member-only preview and Buy-it-Now, where all pieces, including the popular miniatures, can be purchased at a 25 percent premium before the sale opens to the ticketed public at 6 p.m. 35 percent of each piece of artwork sold and opening night reception ticket directly benefit the Museum.
Opening night festivities feature a Quick Draw, where six artists create an original piece of art from scratch that are auctioned off at the end of the evening. Other components include live entertainment, and complimentary full bar, and heavy hors d’oeuvres.
A Western Art Seminar will be conducted on Saturday, March 7, 2020, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., which includes a continental breakfast and lunch. This seminar is a great professional development and networking opportunity for artists which covers five different sessions including presentations and demonstrations by the exhibit jurors and art professionals. This year’s presenters are Scott Jones, Alexis Garrett, Carrie Wild, and Harvey Deselms.
