Grupo Control began their musical career in Control, Tamaulipas located on the outskirts of Matamoros, Tamaulipas Mexico; very close to the Texas border. The creators of this successful group are siblings José Guadalupe Degollado and Sergio Degollado. Their talent and love for Regional Mexican music was highlighted from an early age. At that time with the support of their parents, the Degollado brothers formed a group called Super Llama while finding the musical concept that would launch them to fame.

Over time, with effort and the desire to succeed, these brothers decided to bring their music to the United States where they began Control so they would always remember the little town where they came from. Their father proposed they add new instruments such as accordion to make their band unique.

In 1999, during the Johnny Canales Show; Mr. Lupe Rosales, promoter of the label EMI Latin, discovered the group and gave them an opportunity to create their first album Cumbia sin Control where songs like Tao Tao, Maria Salome, and Cumbia Con La Luna were international hits.  At EMI Latin they created five albums over five years. These albums were titled Cumbia Sin Control (1999),  Fuera de Control (2001), Todo Bajo Control (2002), Controlandote (2003), and Los Reyes de la Cumbia (2004).

In 2005, they created two more albums entitled Mas Control (2005) and Controlmania (2006). They continued to transcend, making more albums and forming their own label and achieving five gold records, and a following of fans who are the reason why they continue to this day as Los Reyes de la Cumbia.

In 2009 the group took an unexpected turn and added not only one member but a great female talent who comes from the musical heritage of the Degollado.  Jennifer Degollado, is the daughter of Sergio Degollado and is a family pride due to her many talents which include singing, writing songs and playing instruments such as the accordion, guitar, and keyboard. In the beginning, she was only invited to participate in the song Eres lo que mas quiero. When the song was first presented she evoked inexplicable response and emotion from the crowd that they asked her to join the group. No doubt Jennifer gave a touch of youth to the group, and she was immediately accepted by their fans. Jennifer along with her dad and her uncle Jose Guadalupe released the 2011 album titled The New Face of Control where he shares the song Así.

Lupe and Sergio have achieved what they always dreamed—sharing joy, energy, and satisfaction through these moving songs. No doubt Grupo Control has shown us they have much to give their audience and will continue to win over hearts locally, in the United States and internationally.
