CHEYENNE, Wyo. (July 21, 2026) — Wyoming native Hayden Welsh dominated the field at the Rank 45 Xtreme Bulls stop at Cheyenne Frontier Days. Welsh, who grew up in Gillette, scored 93.5 points on Monday to win the first round. He was the last of 40 riders on Tuesday and when the gate opened he needed to be 91 points to be the overall winner.
Welsh managed score even higher – marking 92 points on a bull from Dakota Rodeo called Badlands. That gave the 20-year-old son of seven-time National Finals Rodeo (NFR) bull rider Bobby Welsh a total of 185.5 points to win the event by a single point. He won a total of $26,660.
Australian Qynn Anderson, the reigning champion of the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo, won the second round with a score of 92.5 and finished at 184.5 for second place. Anderson’s total winnings were $25,275. Welsh is part of a stellar rookie class of bull riders in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) this year. He’s currently fourth in the world standings and second in the rookie standings behind Noah Lee, who scored 92 in round one but bucked off on Tuesday.
Another PRCA rookie, the reigning PBR world champion John Crimber of Decatur, Texas, also scored 92 points and finished third overall at 183.5, winning $15,580. Utah’s Cooper James was fourth overall and scored 91.5 points on Tuesday.
“This is what I’ve been dreaming of since I was four years old watching my dad ride bulls here and when I was 11 years old pulling his bull rope,” Welsh told the crowd and The Cowboy Channel’s Katie Lucas after his win. The deeply religious cowboy thanked God and said, “I’m pumped up like a bike tire.”
Fans got their money’s worth, watching eight rides of 90 points or better and witnessing the gravity defying feats of Manu Lataste, the French bull jumper.
The Xtreme Bulls tour was part of the “Daddy of ‘em All” for the second year and featured a total purse of $103,870. Last year’s event was named the Xtreme Bulls event of 2025.
