CFD Announces Leadership Transition for CEO Tom Hirsig

CHEYENNE, WY (October 29, 2026) — The Cheyenne Frontier Days™ Board of Directors today announced that Chief Executive Officer Tom Hirsig will be stepping away following the 2027 Cheyenne Frontier Days celebration, concluding a remarkable period of leadership that has helped strengthen and advance the Daddy of ’em All®.

“Tom’s leadership, vision, and unwavering commitment to Cheyenne Frontier Days have left an indelible mark on this organization,” said the Cheyenne Frontier Days Board of Directors. “While no one can truly replace Tom, we are committed to building upon the strong foundation he has helped create. We are incredibly grateful that he will remain with us through the 2027 show as we work together to ensure a thoughtful and successful transition,” said Tad Herz, Chairman of the Board.

Few leaders embody the spirit and heritage of Cheyenne Frontier Days as deeply as Hirsig. His family’s lifelong connection to rodeo and the Western way of life reflects the traditions that have defined the organization for generations. Throughout his tenure, he has championed the values of volunteerism, community involvement, and Western heritage while helping position Cheyenne Frontier Days for continued success.

Under Hirsig’s leadership, Cheyenne Frontier Days has continued to grow its reputation as one of the world’s premier celebrations of Western culture, rodeo, and entertainment, while maintaining a steadfast commitment to the traditions and volunteers that make the event unique.

To support the search for the organization’s next leader, the Board is retaining an external executive search firm to assist in identifying exceptional candidates capable of carrying forward the mission and legacy of Cheyenne Frontier Days.

“Leaders with Tom’s experience, passion, and unique connection to this organization are exceedingly rare,” continued Herz. “For that reason, we are conducting a comprehensive national search to help identify the next individual who can build upon the extraordinary work that has been accomplished during Tom’s tenure.”

The Board emphasized that while Hirsig may be beginning a new chapter, his relationship with Cheyenne Frontier Days will remain strong.

“Tom’s love for Cheyenne Frontier Days is woven into who he is, and Cheyenne Frontier Days will always be a part of him,” the Board said. “We know that his support, friendship,

and connection to this organization will continue long after his tenure as CEO concludes. We look forward to celebrating his contributions over the next year and honoring the tremendous legacy he leaves for future generations.”

Additional information regarding the executive search process will be shared as it becomes available.
