Chadron Hockley Named 2027 Lady-In-Waiting

Chadron Hockley has been named the 2027 Cheyenne Frontier Days Lady-in-Waiting following a selection process that included a written application, an accomplishment book, a horsemanship demonstration and an interview.

Hockley, 24, is the daughter of Dale Hockley and JoEllen and Brandon Connolly. She is a 2020 graduate of Wheatland High School, where she participated in volleyball, basketball and FFA. During her senior year, she served as the Wheatland FFA sentinel. She was also an honor student and earned an academic letter during her freshman year.

Hockley attended Laramie County Community College, where she pursued a degree in agribusiness. She is also a licensed esthetician who received her training from IBMC College. Hockley is also a silversmith specializing in sterling silver and turquoise jewelry.

Hockley and her sister, Kaycee, are second-generation Cheyenne Frontier Days volunteers. They have served in several roles, including working as Toes at Chute 9, helping at the Cowboy Bistro, outriding in the parades and assisting with the Challenge Rodeo.

Hockley officially joined the Rodeo Committee when she turned 18. Her father, Dale, has volunteered with the committee for more than 26 years.

“To me, being Lady-in-Waiting is more than just a title. It is about our more than 2,000 volunteers, rodeo athletes, animal athletes, fans and so many others. It is about the timeless traditions and history of Cheyenne Frontier Days and Wyoming as a whole,” Hockley said. “This role is an opportunity to promote and serve an organization that works hard year-round to create the best 10 days of July.”

Hockley will serve alongside Miss Frontier MeadowAnn King in 2027, representing Cheyenne Frontier Days throughout the region.
